BISS GCHS LAMZ Eleanor Rigby FDC JE CAX BCAT RATI RATO CGC
About Rigby
Rigby is the result of a truly international partnership of Bedlington breeders, combining American, English, Canadian and Swedish lines. We had used her sire, Wilde (MultiCh Isotop's Hot Shot), with Chloe's dam, Gypsy, in 2006 and gotten some outstanding puppies. We decided to return to Wilde with Chloe and we were thrilled with the resulting litter, which incorporates some of Vegas (MBISS GCh LAMZ Viva Las Vegas RN SE CA RATI RATN CGC) into the pedigree.
Rigby combines some of the best conformation and temperament traits of not only her sire and dam, but also her grandsires and granddams. Her coordinated, balanced sidegait enables her to float around the show ring, coupled with a front assembly that can't be beat. Her, correct, "V" front and tremendous layback of shoulder and return of upper arm give her proper reach for the breed. A rarity in the breed, her proper dark coat color sets her apart from many Bedlingtons in the show ring. Rigby has a beautiful, small, dark eye, placed deep in a very feminine head. There are so many wonderful things to be said about this typey, feminine little girl.
Not to be outdone by her brother, Comet, Rigby won a Group 1 in a puppy match at the tender age of 4.5 months old. She didn't stop there, entering the real show ring at 6 months and 1 day old, and walking out with her first 3-point major. Rigby repeated that performance the following day, receiving both majors by 6 months and 2 days of age. She followed up her breakout successes by going Best Puppy In Breed at the Bedlington Terrier Club of Greater Denver specialty show in August of 2008.
In the early fall of 2008 she went Winners Bitch/Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex for another major, bringing her total to 3 major wins. She finished her championship in early 2009 with a total of 5 Major wins, just shy of her first birthday.
In 2009, Rigby and Gaby partnered up for what would become a very successful specials career. In their first full weekend out together, they were awarded three group placements, one of which was over a Top-10 Terrier. Over the course of 2009, the pair garnered many more breed wins and Terrier Group Placements and formed a formidible team in the show ring. In late 2009, after a light year of showing, Rigby was awarded a Group 4 at the prestigious Kennel Club of Philadelphia show over two Top-5 Terriers (and had won the breed that day over the #1 Bedlington). Rigby received an Award of Merit at the 2009 BTCA Floating National Specialty held in conjunction with the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and was Best Bred-By Exhibitor in Breed. She was pulled in the cut in the Bred-By Exhibitor Terrier Group under world-renowned terrier expert, Mr. Peter Green. In February of 2010, Rigby received the only Award of Merit given to a Bedlington Terrier at Westminster that year.
Rigby had continued success as a special in 2010, staying in the Top-5 Bedlington Terriers in Breed Points for most of the year. Rigby went on to become the AKC's very FIRST Grand Champion Bedlington Terrier. Throughout 2010, they picked up many more Best of Breed wins and Group Placements, ending the year (tied for) the #6 Bedlington Terrier in the USA. After the 2010 show season, Rigby was put into semi-retirement while her half-brother, Shilling, stretched his legs in the show ring.

Rigby whelped her first litter in the summer of 2011, sired by Vegas. We could not have been happier with the resulting puppies who uniformly possessed incredible coats, correct heads and were stunning movers in all directions. There were 4 males and 1 female in the litter. The female was exported to Canada where she is being shown by Christopher Lee of Camerata Bedlington Terriers. Two of the males were placed in show homes here in the United States. Her son, Barnum (Ch LAMZ Greatest Show on Earth), finished his championship at 11 months of age, with 5 major wins, and is pointed towards his grand championship. Her other son, Jack (Ch LAMZ Cotton Candy and Cracker Jack), finished his championship before 18 months of age going Winners Dog and Best in Sweepstakes at the 2012 BTCA Floating National Specialty and two of the shows during the National Specialty Weekend!
In 2012, Rigby made her return to the show ring after taking 2011 off to raise her first litter. She didn't miss a beat, earning many Best of Breed awards in competitive lineups and placing in exceptionally strong terrier groups throughout the year. During the National Specialty weekend in Louisville, 2012, Rigby made it to the final cut in the breed on multiple days and received an Award of Merit on the day preceding the National Specialty. In October 2012, Rigby received Back-to-Back Terrier Group 1's! These were her first group wins after many placements over the years. These wins made her our 4th Terrier Group Winner (after Vegas, Roadie and Shilling) and the second Group Winner produced by her dam, Chloe. Rigby won over 800 All-Breed points in 2012 and finished the year ranked as the #2 Bedlington Terrier (Breed Points) in the USA!
2013 saw Rigby capping off an incredible specials career. In February, Rigby went Best of Breed at the 137th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York City! She is our first Westminster Best of Breed winner, and had previously received an Award of Merit at Westminster in 2010. Rigby followed up her 2013 Westminster Kennel Club Best of Breed win by going Select Bitch at the 2013 BTCA National Specialty in Louisville, KY in March of 2013. Rigby took the spring and summer of 2013 off to whelp her second litter of puppies, coming back out in August to go Best in Specialty Show at the 2013 BTCA Floating National Specialty Show in Greeley, CO.
Rigby returned to the Westminster Kennel Club in 2014, and was awarded Best of Opposite at Westminster 2014. Her 9-month old daughter, Vogue (GCh LAMZ Strike A Pose), from her May 2013 litter, was Select Bitch to her. Rigby then went on to win an Award of Merit at Westminster 2015, her second Award of Merit at this show and 4th total award at Westminster. Her daughter, Vogue, was Best of Breed at the 139th annual Westminster Kennel Club dog show in 2015.
Rigby has had a brief, but successful performance career. Although her performance time was limited by her lengthy show career, she earned her Coursing Ability, Coursing Ability Advanced, BCAT, Barn Hunt Instinct, Novice Barn Hunt and Canine Good Citizen titles in just a handful of trials apiece. Her progeny also excel in the performance arenas with titles in Barn Hunt, Rally-O, Coursing Ability Testing, Fast CAT, and AKC's Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog programs.
We could not be more proud of all that this beautiful girl has accomplished. We have had so much fun with her over the years both inside and out of the show ring! Rigby has always been a showgirl through and through. She will go out of her way to make the judge, her handler and the audience laugh while she is in the ring; whether it be taking exaggerated stretches after getting off the exam table, sneaking kisses to the judges when they least expect it or pretending to be fiesty in an effort to surprise the crowd. It was bittersweet to retire her after her long specials career, but we could not ask for a better pet, show dog, producer or family member and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for her future litters and adventures in the performance venues!
