"Before you get a dog, you can't quite imagine what living with one might be like; afterward, you can't imagine living any other way."
Caroline Knapp
General Information,Generally, there are under 200 total Bedlington puppies born every year in the United States, so if you're interested in adding a Bedlington puppy to your family, we highly recommend that you find a reputable breeder and contact them when you first begin your search to reserve a puppy from a future litter! Often, by the time our planned litters are announced online and the puppies are born, most (if not all) of the puppies are spoken for, so please contact us as early as possible in your search to ensure that we have your Puppy Application on file and you know when we are expecting puppies.
Here at LAMZ Bedlington Terriers, we typically breed a few litters each year that are raised in our own house and have several co-bred litters each year that are raised with other families that we work closely with and who share our bloodlines, breeding goals, stringent standards, and values. Even with multiple litters each year, our puppies are usually not available without a wait. Our litters are carefully planned long before the puppies are born, helping to ensure that every puppy we produce has the stable temperament, excellent health, and strong conformation qualities that we value in our line. We are often asked whether we will have pet/companion puppies available, or if we only sell show puppies. The answer is that we always have companion puppies in any litter we breed. Although we breed every single litter with hopes of puppies destined for greatness in the show and performance rings, and with an aim to improve the breed, only a handful of puppies will ever make it to the show and performance rings. Insignificant structural traits that the average owner would never notice, like slightly narrow ears, a tail that is carried too high, or a round-shaped eye (as opposed to an almond shaped eye), could eliminate the dog as a show candidate. However, that dog will make a beautiful, healthy, loving companion for a family. There are pet-quality puppies in every litter and we welcome all inquiries from those seeking a companion as well as those seeking a show or performance prospect. All of the dogs we use for breeding are DNA 1,1 (clear), non-carriers, for Inherited Copper Toxicosis (CT), have had their eyes examined by a licensed ophthalmologist, have had their hearts examined by a licensed cardiologist, and have had their patellas examined to ensure they are healthy and clear of genetic abnormalities before breeding. Before leaving for their new homes, our puppies are also all examined by board-certified canine ophthalmologists and cardiologists, have their dewclaws removed, receive age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, and dewormed. All of our puppies are registered with the American Kennel Club. Our show and performance prospect puppies are sold on a co-ownership agreement until they complete their AKC Championship, at which point we will sign off of their papers. All pet-quality puppies are sold on a spay/neuter contract with AKC Limited Registration, meaning that if that dog is bred, any resulting offspring will be ineligible for AKC registration and we retain co-ownership on all pet puppies until proof of spay/neuter is provided to us, in writing, by your veterinarian. For many reasons, we do not ever ship our puppies to their new homes sight-unseen under any circumstances. All of our puppies must be picked up in person, including international sales. For those new families who live too far away to drive to us, we are located close to several major airports in the greater D.C. area (Dulles (IAD), Reagan (DCA) and Baltimore-Washington (BWI)) and will gladly work with you to set up a time for you to fly out and pick up your puppy and bring it home with you in-cabin. The Process of Obtaining a LAMZ Bedlington Terrier PuppyDue to an exceptionally high volume of inquiries from outstanding families, our puppies are generally not available without a wait of 4-6+ months. We have put together the following "guide" outlining the steps we take to place our puppies in their perfect homes:
1. Check back on our website frequently for upcoming litters and puppy plans as they sometimes change or need to be adjusted (we are at the mercy of mother nature, despite our best laid plans!). Sometimes, puppies become available on short notice due to no fault of their own. 2. Once you see that we have litters planned and/or are accepting inquiries for certain litters, fill our our Puppy Application (available HERE and below) and e-mail the completed application to [email protected]. Please note, you may fill out the Puppy Application and send it to us at any time, but we review applications more quickly and frequently when we have litters planned that will have availability on the waiting list and/or litters with currently available puppies. 3. Once we have puppies on the ground, or have an idea of what we will have available from a litter (usually between 4-7 weeks of age), we will begin to review the applications we have received and we will reach out to potential homes to schedule a Phone Screening to determine if you are still interested in a puppy and if so, discuss any questions you have for us, and any questions we have for you, in order to determine if one of our puppies might be a good fit for your family. 4. Once we have determined that one of our puppies might be a good match for you, you will be added to our Waiting List for our upcoming litter(s). Please note, every puppy is matched with a family based on its individual temperament, qualities, and potential. We do not go "in order" of when applications are received or straight down our waiting list. Nor do we guarantee that anyone added to our waiting list will receive a puppy from any specific litter - our goal is to match the right puppy with the right family. 5. You will be informed as soon as we know that we have a puppy who would be a good fit for you, and at that point, we will ask that you put down a Deposit to hold that puppy. Once you have placed a deposit on a puppy, you will receive photos and updates as the litter and your puppy grows up! Please note, these deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE, except at our own discretion. 5. We will schedule Puppy Pickup with you for when your puppy is old enough to leave and has had its heart and eye clearances completed. Payment in full is required before any puppy leaves our possession. As always, don't hesitate to reach out via phone or e-mail if you have any questions or are not ready to jump into the formal process of bringing home one of our puppies! LAMZ Bedlington Terriers - Puppy ApplicationIn order to determine if a LAMZ Bedlington Terrier is the best fit for you and your family, it is important for us to learn about you, your goals and desires for your new puppy, and the environment into which one of our puppies will be placed.
This questionnaire is not intended to make you feel that our puppies are unobtainable; they are simply some basic questions that will help us place our puppies into the best possible homes and ensure that each individual puppy is matched with the right family. Please note that while we appreciate the time each person takes to fill out this questionnaire, completing and submitting a questionnaire in no way guarantees that you will be added to our waitlist or receive a puppy from us. This is a screening tool to help us get to know you, and ensure that each of our puppies is matched with the best possible family for its individual temperament, qualities and potential. Upon receipt of your completed questionnaire, we will review your answers and reach out to you with next steps. Completed questionnaires should be e-mailed to us at [email protected]
Upcoming Litters & Available Adult Dogs |
Planned January 2025 LitterTina has just come into season (early November 2024), and we are planning her second and final litter. We will be breeding her to Carter, with puppies expected mid-January 2025 (ready to go to their new homes in March 2025). Tina has had one previous litter of 8 puppies in 2023, with one of her sons making waves in the show and performance rings! That son, Waltz (GCh LAMZ So You Think You Can France NE CGC TKN VSWI) is a multiple terrier group placer from the classes and has shown tremendous apt for sports, such as Scentwork and Earthdog. Several other puppies will be making their way to the show rings in 2025. Tina is a moderately sized girl, with a beautiful head and very correct coat with loads of color. Carter also has a beautiful head, with wonderful coat density and beautiful movement from his lovely angulation. Both Tina and Carter have wonderful temperaments and we expect the same with these puppies. Both Tina and Carter carry the gene for Liver coloration, so we expect both Blue and Liver puppies from this combination. Please fill out our Puppy Application (linked above) and e-mail it to us as we are now putting together our waiting list for this litter! Current & Planned Co-Bred LittersThe litters below, co-bred with LAMZ Bedlington Terriers, are generally not bred and raised here in-house at LAMZ Bedlington Terriers. However, these litters are directly out of our lines and are lovingly raised by their co-breeders who work closely with us, share our high breeding standards and adhere to the same strict health testing and vigorous socialization regimen as we do with our own puppies. Contact information for the co-breeders of the litters below will be listed under the litter announcement.
Please look at each listing below for instructions on how to get onto each litters' waiting list. While we help screen buyers and place puppies from some co-bred litters, many are exclusively placed by their co-breeders, whose contact information will be listed below if there are puppies available in their litters. None at this time - please check back later.Past Litters at LAMZ Bedlington Terriers
